Our Hometown - Hubby’s
Whenever I think about going away for a nice holiday, I can’t help thinking about Hubby’s hometown. Hubby is pretty much a city boy (he, after all was raised in Kuala Lumpur) but his late mother’s folks are from Terengganu.
Hubby was born in a “kampung” or village in Marang, Terengganu. Marang is a picturesque fishing village with a certain rustic charm to it. Terengganu is a state in the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. The inhabitants in this state are predominantly Muslim Malays. The state boasts many breathtaking beaches and islands such as Redang Island, Lang Tengah Island, Perhentian Island and Kapas Island (to name a few).
As a matter of fact, we spent our honeymoon at Redang Island, yonks ago, enjoying the white sandy beach and the clear blue sea there.
Photo: Marang Jetty which is is about five minutes from Grandma’s house. I enjoyed just sitting and watching the fishermen go about their business.
I love going back to Hubby’s hometown and so does Son. Hubby’s grandmother’s backyard is a beach so it is always nice to wake up and breathe in the invigorating sea breeze.

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up to this view every single day? Unfortunately, we don’t get to come here often as driving from Kuala Lumpur to Marang takes about 6-7 hours! But I tell you, it is so worth the time spent on the road once we get there!
When I was 15 years old, I was lucky to spend a year in a school in scenic Kerteh town and be so near to the beach. Kerteh is a small town more popularly known as the base of operations for Petronas in Terengganu. When you think about Petronas, you think about oil!
Hubby inherited a piece of land beside his Grandma’s house and he talked about living there when we reached retirement age. But why wait for retirement?

Lina, the photos are just beautiful..They give me a sense of peace!
@icybc,
thank you.
It is indeed a peaceful place. Everyone’s taking it easy and slowly instead of our usual fast-paced life in the city.
@jeremae,
thanks.
I’ve taken out my EC widget. But please feel free to come often and I’ll reciprocate your visit!
Wish I had that kinda view in my backyard too
Instead of other people’s backyards and houses etc… thankfully I’m about 40minutes drive to a decent looking beach with minimal population so it’s all good
Quite pretty too!
Will drop by often!
@flukenz,
lucky you. The nearest beach town from my place is about an hour and half, and the beach is nothing to shout about (overly developed).
See you!
